PSS is an independent British Company formed in 1971 specialising in the design, manufacture and installation of innovative storage and handling systems. 

Our purpose built factory at Swindon was opened in 1980 and includes 35,000 square feet of factory and offices located on a 2 acre site recently expanded to house a new automatic roll forming and welding plant.

Products are manufactured at Swindon and at our new low cost manufacturing facility in Romania. This 12,500 sq. metre facility contains a 3 million Euro investment in a range of state of the art manufacturing equipment which includes coil slitting and re-rolling, automatic punching and cold forming, a quick change powder coating plant that will handle sections up to 12 metres long. An extensive accessory production capacity will enable us to have our own in house fabrication and press work capability.

This plant is situated in Brasov a strategic location in the fastest growing area of Europe. This 11 million Euro investment is sized to service a 50 million Euro PA Business with room to expand.

The region has a strong engineering heritage and the factory is located near three of Europe’s lowest cost steel mills. Our latest Gasparini cold rolling mill we believe is the most flexible high speed European racking industry and also has the capability of producing mezzanine secondary beam sections.

In the case of Structural Floors total design is carried out by our PSS Design Department.

Structural components (columns, main beams, secondary beams, flooring and handrail etc.) are then manufactured by PSS sub contractors.

All outside manufacture is to strict guide lines laid down by PSS Structural Engineers and regular quality checks are made to insure the very highest standards.

Installation is carried out by fully trained structural steel workers who are supervised at all times by a PSS installation engineer.

Manufacture is carried out under conditions of strict quality control and we are registered to BS EN ISO 9001: 1994 – Certificate No. FM 01755.  We are also long standing members of SEMA (The Storage Equipment Manufacturers Association) and adhere to their recommendations and Codes of Practice.

Our Design Department also handles storage projects, a number of which are of 7 figure values, including high bay racking, multi tier systems, with the interface of live storage modules.  Our designers use a networked AutoCAD system to control all design and drawing requirements.  Many truly impressive installations have been designed and subsequently manufactured here at Swindon, totalling a value in excess of £250m.

Special emphasis and considerable resources are deployed in our Research and Development Department where there is an on-going programme for improvements to existing products and investigation into new products and solutions to cover customer needs.

The Company are particularly experienced in constructing storage systems for the distribution industry.

Corporate Division

PSS have three selling divisions; through a direct sales force, through a distributor network and through corporate sales.

Many years ago PSS recognised that the larger, more complex installations need specialist handling and our Corporate Division has gained an enviable reputation for delivering many innovative, often complex installations to specification and on time.

Our main customer base is the third party logistics providers and direct to High Street Retailers.
